In November 2023, YARSI University students of group 8 carried out a Community Service Program (KKN) in Semper Timur, focusing on the prevention of stunting by increasing maternal knowledge. The students provided educational workshops for mothers on the causes and risks of stunting, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition and health care during pregnancy and early childhood. This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 2: Zero Hunger, by promoting the health and development of children in vulnerable communities.
The workshops aimed to equip mothers with practical knowledge on balanced nutrition, breastfeeding, and proper child care, helping to reduce the prevalence of stunting in the community. By focusing on maternal education, this program contributes to improved child health outcomes and supports SDG 4: Quality Education by ensuring that mothers are empowered with essential health knowledge.
The KKN program was a success, with active community participation. The focus on increasing maternal knowledge about stunting and proper nutrition was well-received, as participants gained valuable insights and were able to easily apply the information in their daily lives. This initiative fostered positive changes in the community’s health and well-being, while also allowing YARSI University students to apply their academic knowledge meaningfully, reflecting the university’s commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility.
