Voluntary National Review (VNR) Report of SDGs Indonesia 2025: The First Step Toward Accelerating the Achievement of SDGs

On February 5, 2025, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas held an online kick-off event for the preparation of the Indonesia 2025 SDGs Voluntary  National  Review  (VNR) Report. This event marked the initial step in developing a comprehensive sustainability report on Indonesia’s progress toward achieving  the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  The report will be presented at the 2025 High-Level Political  Forum  on  Sustainable Development (HLPF).

The VNR 2025 report aligns with the global theme: “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based solutions to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” It focuses on four key SDGs:

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being Goal 5: Gender Equality

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

The event brought together representatives from ministries, agencies, and development partners, all of whom expressed their commitment to collaborating in an inclusive and participatory  manner throughout the report preparation process. The VNR report is not only intended to document progress but also to serve as a strategic reflection tool for strengthening policies and initiatives aimed at achieving the SDGs.

Participants were encouraged to share relevant data and insights to support the report’s development, with multi-stakeholder collaboration identified as a crucial factor in ensuring the success of the process. This kick-off event underscores Indonesia’s strong commitment to

accelerating SDG achievement and reinforcing its position on the global stage as a nation dedicated to sustainable development.

The VNR 2025 report is expected to serve as tangible evidence of Indonesia’s ongoing progress  in promoting inclusive and sustainable development, showcasing its dedication to achieving the 2030 Agenda.
