YARSI University hosted a webinar on “Transaksi Lindung Nilai Syariah atas Nilai Tukar” (Shariah-Compliant Hedging Transactions on Exchange Rates) on September 1, 2023. The webinar explored Islamic finance hedging mechanisms to protect against exchange rate fluctuations, adhering to principles like prohibiting riba and gharar. It highlighted Shariah-compliant instruments such as salam contracts and murabaha financing, discussing their benefits and implementation challenges.
The event focused on practical applications of Shariah hedging in real-world scenarios and provided strategies for managing exchange rate risks. By promoting Shariah-compliant methods to stabilize international transactions, the webinar supported SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. It aimed to foster sustainable economic growth by reducing uncertainty in cross-border business activities through Islamic financial principles.
