On April 17, 2023, Universitas YARSI proudly held a thought-provoking podcast talk show titled “Women in STEM.” The event, which took place in the Podcast Room on the 5th floor of the Faculty of Information Technology, featured two esteemed speakers, Nikshepa Thippeswami and Surabhi Konandur Ramakhrisna Kanti, who shared their inspiring journeys and insights as women excelling in STEM fields. The session was moderated by Fitri Arlinkasari, Ph.D., Psikolog, ensuring a dynamic and engaging discussion
The podcast, which lasted approximately 15–20 minutes, addressed pressing questions surrounding the experiences of women in STEM. Topics included defining the role of female academics in STEM, challenges faced by women in the field, their motivations for entering STEM disciplines, and their perspectives on equal opportunities compared to their male counterparts. The speakers also discussed their aspirations with their degrees, strategies for inspiring and motivating students, and innovative teaching approaches tailored for STEM education.
Highlighting their experiences teaching at Universitas YARSI for the past four months, both speakers shared valuable insights into the institution’s efforts to encourage women in STEM. They praised YARSI’s supportive environment and initiatives that promote inclusivity and empowerment for female students pursuing STEM careers.
The podcast concluded with a powerful message to young women in STEM, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, mentorship, and community support.
