On May 3, 2024, Universitas YARSI hosted a successful International Study Visit and Public Lecture, welcoming a delegation from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Chaired by Dr. Chaerita Maulani, Sp.Perio, the event gathered students, faculty members, and university leadership for an enriching academic exchange.
The event featured lectures from two esteemed IIUM professors. Prof. Yunita Dewi Ardini presented on “Frenotomy: A Solution to Tongue-Tie Challenges in Babies.” She emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of tongue-tie to support breastfeeding. Prof. Yunita explained how untreated tongue-tie can hinder both infant nutrition and the mother’s breastfeeding experience, advising future healthcare professionals to stay alert and seek specialist consultations when needed.
Prof. Widya Lestari, in her lecture titled “Navigating the Path to Publishing Impactful Scientific Articles,” provided valuable tips on scientific writing. She encouraged students to write research that is both personally interesting and beneficial to others. Prof. Widya stressed the importance of motivation, clarity, and dedication in producing high-quality, impactful research.
The event also included opportunities for students from the Faculty of Dentistry to engage with international peers. Students participated in an International e-quiz, organized in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada, fostering cultural and academic connections between the institutions.
The event concluded with remarks from Dean Prof. Dr. Bambang Trenggono, who underscored the blend of artistry and science in dentistry. He urged students to not only hone their clinical skills but also develop an eye for aesthetics in their work, emphasizing the holistic approach required in the field of dentistry.
