Group 16 from the Faculty of Law at YARSI University has implemented a Community Service Program (KKN) in December 2023 with the theme “Elderly Health Education in Sungai Bambu Sub-district, North Jakarta.” This program aimed to educate the elderly about the importance of health and the dangers of fake news, actively involving the community, especially the elderly, in each activity. The approach included elderly health counseling and information on the negative impacts of fake news, using presentation media and handout distribution to convey the materials.
The primary objective of this activity was to enhance the understanding of the elderly in Sungai Bambu Sub-district regarding good health practices and the ability to identify and avoid fake news. The program was designed to invite active participation from the community, particularly the elderly, to ensure they were directly involved in the provided activities. The evaluation of this activity included the identification of supporting and hindering factors, as well as the development of solutions to address the challenges faced, in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 on Good Health and Well-being.
It is expected that through this counseling, the community, especially the elderly, can obtain significant benefits, including an increased understanding of their health and awareness of fake news. This program aims not only to improve the health of the elderly but also to empower them with relevant and valuable information, supporting their well-being and protection in the increasingly complex information era.
