Public Discussion “In-Depth Analysis of Education and Human Resources Policies”

The public discussion titled “In-Depth Analysis of Education and Human Resources Policies” addressed various issues related to education and human resource (HR) development in Indonesia. The event featured Prof. Fasli Jalal (Chairman of the ECED Council and Rector of YARSI University), along with two other speakers, Dr. Tauhid Ahmad (Senior Economist at INDEF) and Dr. Tanti Novianti (Deputy Dean of the School of Business at IPB), moderated by Eisha Maghfiruha Rachbini, Ph.D., Director of INDEF’s Program. The discussion highlighted the importance of equitable education quality and the alignment of curricula with the needs of the labor market. The speakers agreed that, in order to produce competent human resources ready to face global challenges, inclusive education reforms, collaboration between the education sector, government, and industry, as well as enhanced vocational training, are essential.

Key issues discussed included the disparity in access to education between urban and rural areas, as well as the need for skill development relevant to Industry 4.0. Additionally, the discussion emphasized the importance of creating policies that support decent work and inclusive economic growth, in line with the SDGs, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Overall, the discussion underscored the need for synergy among various stakeholders to create an adaptive and high-quality education system and HR development, in order to support Indonesia’s future economic and social progress.
