Palestine Minister of Tourism Goes to Indonesia, visits Universitas YARSI to say thank you

On September 5, 2024, Universitas YARSI welcomed Mr. Hani Naji Abdalmasih Al-Hayek, the Palestinian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, as part of his official trip to Indonesia. This visit was hosted by Universitas YARSI and attended by its Vice Rector I, Dr. Dr. Wening Sari, M.Kes, and a delegation of students and faculty. It marked a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and educational ties between Palestine and Indonesia. Mr. Hani’s visit followed an invitation from the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, with whom he signed a collaborative agreement aimed at fostering cooperation in technology, information, and human resource development.

During his address, Mr. Hani conveyed his gratitude to the Indonesian people and government for their unwavering support for Palestine, particularly in the tourism sector. He also shared insights into the current situation in Palestine, underscoring the resilience of the Palestinian people despite ongoing challenges, including the severe destruction in Gaza. He discussed hopes to see more Indonesian tourists visiting Palestine, especially as religious tourism continues to grow.

This visit aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Universitas YARSI’s leadership expressed their commitment to strengthening collaboration with Palestine, particularly in education, tourism, and cultural exchange, marking a promising new chapter in Indonesia-Palestine relations
