“Communication Skills: Making an Impact” is a topic included in the Continuous Professional Development activities conducted by Yarsi University. Its primary goal is to help students understand the concepts and fundamentals of communication, identify effective and ineffective communication behaviors, and comprehend how anxiety can impact communication and ways to address it.
The activity consists of two sessions: an asynchronous session on July 19, 2023, and a synchronous session on July 26, 2023. In the asynchronous session, students will learn about communication concepts, including verbal, non-verbal, and vocal communication, as well as the importance of attentive listening. The synchronous session will focus on self-assessment of personal communication styles and preferences, and how to adapt and communicate messages more effectively to individuals with different communication preferences.
Overall, this activity aims to enhance students’ communication skills and interpersonal sensitivity, which are crucial competencies in the workplace and everyday life. This aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
