“Influencing People Positively” is a thematic component of the Continuous Professional Development activities organized by Yarsi University. The primary goal is to assist students in understanding and enhancing their ability to positively influence others.
The program consists of three sessions. In the first session (October 11, 2023, 2 hours), students will be introduced to the concept of “influencing” and how they can use their unique personalities to affect others. They will learn techniques for influencing, such as understanding others’ perspectives and identifying areas for personal development, and will engage with videos and group discussions.
The second session (October 12-17, 2023) will focus on self-analysis and reflection on students’ influencing abilities, as well as identifying focus areas for skill improvement. In the final session (October 18, 2023, 2 hours), students will study the Cohen-Bradford model of influencing, participate in case studies and group activities to apply the model, and develop action plans to enhance their influencing skills.
Overall, this activity is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to be more effective in positively influencing others, which is a crucial competency for leadership and future career success. Thus, the “Influencing People Positively” program contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Developing positive influencing skills is a fundamental foundation for students to become successful individuals and contribute to sustainable development.
