In December 2023, YARSI University students of group 36 conducted a Community Service Program (KKN) in Rorotan, focusing on enhancing community health and environmental sustainability through several key initiatives.
The students began with a seminar on stunting, supporting Kelurahan Rorotan’s ongoing efforts. They provided crucial information on stunting prevention and management, contributing to SDG 2: Zero Hunger by improving child health education.
They also launched an eco-enzyme project to convert household organic waste into useful products, such as cleaning agents and fertilizers. This aligns with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by promoting waste reduction and resource efficiency.
Additionally, the introduction of hydroponic gardening supported the ‘Go Green’ initiative. This method of growing vegetables uses less water, aligning with SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and fostering sustainable practices.
Finally, educational workshops on bullying were held to increase awareness of its effects and promote a supportive environment for children. This supports SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by ensuring a safer community.
The KKN project in Rorotan achieved significant community engagement and reflected YARSI University’s commitment to sustainable development and social impact. Through these activities, students positively influenced local health, environmental practices, and social well-being.
