On July 31, 2024, Yarsi University conducted a virtual workshop focused on the development of modules for preventing and addressing bullying and cyberbullying in educational settings. The event, which took place from 08:30 AM to 03:00 PM WIB, attracted 49 participants, comprising teachers and educational psychologists from various institutions.
The workshop, entitled “Development of Modules for Preventing and Addressing Bullying and Cyberbullying for Teachers,” aimed to enhance educators’ competencies in managing and responding to incidents of bullying and cyberbullying within school environments. This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
Utilizing the Zoom platform, the workshop incorporated interactive elements such as discussion sessions and facilitated Breakout Rooms (BOR). These features enabled effective knowledge exchange and collaborative learning among participants. The event’s structure was designed to provide comprehensive and practical training, fostering the development of tangible skills applicable in educational settings.
A secondary objective of the workshop was to identify and address potential technical and logistical challenges inherent in online training delivery. This aspect of the event contributes to the refinement of virtual professional development methodologies, supporting SDG 4.c, which focuses on enhancing teacher training.
This initiative demonstrates a commitment to creating safer and more inclusive educational environments in Indonesia. By equipping educators with advanced strategies to combat both traditional and cyber forms of bullying, the workshop contributes to the broader goals of improving student well-being, ensuring quality education, and reducing violence against children.
The successful execution of this virtual workshop not only addressed immediate educational concerns but also set a precedent for future online professional development initiatives in the education sector. As such, it represents a significant step towards modernizing teacher training and adapting to the evolving challenges in education, particularly in the digital age.
