Cultural Experience Service for UNIMAS Students: Enhancing Cross-Cultural Collaboration

On December 14, 2023, and December 21, 2023, Universitas YARSI’s International Affairs Office (KUI) organized a Cultural Experience Service for exchange students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). The goal of this initiative was to provide these students with enriching cultural experiences that would deepen their understanding of Indonesia’s diverse heritage and foster cross-cultural collaboration, a key element for the development of education and research.

The first part of the cultural experience took place at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) on December 14, 2023. TMII is a cultural theme park that showcases the rich and diverse cultural traditions of Indonesia. The second event, scheduled for December 21, 2024, will bring the students to Gunung Mas, Bogor, a beautiful tea plantation where they will gain insight into Indonesia’s natural beauty and local agricultural practices. Both locations were chosen to offer a combination of cultural immersion and exposure to Indonesia’s unique natural landscapes.

The program included four exchange students from UNIMAS: Zarith, Nadia, Ameera, and Leeyana. They were accompanied by delegates from Universitas YARSI, including representatives from the International Affairs Office (KUI) and the Faculty of Psychology. The accompanying faculty and staff members ensured that the students gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural aspects of Indonesia while facilitating discussions that promoted international cooperation.

This cultural exchange is part of Universitas YARSI’s ongoing efforts to provide international students with opportunities for immersive experiences that contribute to their academic growth and understanding of global cultures. Through such programs, the university aims to create a dynamic, cross-cultural learning environment that benefits both international students and the broader university community.
