In December 2023, YARSI University students of group 29 carried out a Community Service Program (KKN) in Rawa Badak Selatan, focusing on raising awareness about Diabetes Mellitus and offering free blood sugar screenings. The students organized educational sessions to inform community members about the causes, risks, and management of diabetes, highlighting the importance of early detection and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting health education and proactive health management in vulnerable communities.
The program aimed to equip residents with essential knowledge on diabetes prevention and control, while providing practical health services like blood sugar checks to encourage early diagnosis and treatment. By focusing on community health education, this program contributes to better health outcomes and supports SDG 4: Quality Education by ensuring that individuals are empowered with critical health knowledge.
Through this KKN project, YARSI University students actively engaged with the Rawa Badak Selatan community, gaining valuable experience in public health initiatives. This reflects the university’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and improving public health through education and community involvement.
