Awal 2023 M.Biomedis Universitas Yarsi Gelar Kuliah Analisis Bioinformatika

Sungguh istimewa, baru berapa hari masuk tahun 2023, Magister Sains Biomedis (M. Biomedis) Universitas Yarsi sudah menghamparkan kuliah tamu, mendatangkan Head of Biotechnology, Digital Transformation Office Kementerian Kesehatan Tyas Iksan Hikmawan,M.S., Ph.D. (Doktor Tyas)

Hebatnya lagi, forum berbagi ilmu ini dari awal hingga akhir peserta melonjak hampir 200 orang. Pesertanya para mahasiswa, klinisi, peneliti, dosen dan peminat biotechnology datang dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia.

Peserta ini mau mengurangi waktu berlibur tahun barunya demi bisa belajar perpaduan teknologi informatika dan biologi .Kegiatan ini menunjukkan M.Biomedis Yarsi tidak mau terlena dengan liburan pergantian tahun

Dalam gelaran secara virtual, doktor Tyas membawakan materi Pengantar Analisis Bioinformatika Data NGS. Limpahan pengetahuan dan pencerahan bermanfaat disampaikannya, seperti, menjelaskan Bioinformatika merupakan metode analisa data genomik dihasilkan dari mesin nextgen sequencing (NGS) dan update Bioinformatika. Termasuk contoh penggunaan NGS berupa pembacaan sekuen genomik virus penyebab covid, sehingga diketahui turunan Varian Omicron telah masuk ke Indonesia.

Kemudian pentingnya penggunaan NGS, tidak hanya mengendalikan pandemi tapi juga membaca variasi genetik dibalik antibiotik resistensi, mutasi genetik kanker untuk pencegahan dan terapi presisi, kuman TBC atau malaria telah resisten terhadap obat dan masalah kesehatan lainnya yang merupakan ranah penelitian biomedik.

“NGS itu sendiri alat untuk menggambarkar sequen (urutan) genonik makhluk hidup,” ujar alumnus Ph.D in Marine Science. King Abdullah Univ. of Science & Tech Ph.D.

NGS bukan sel punca merupakan sel dapat berkembang sesuai dengan kebutuhan kita.

Tidak ketinggalan dalam forum berbagi wawasan disampaikan juga adanya ledakan informasi data dan dari waktu kewaktu data itu melonjak. Karena itu butuh managemen data teratur, terstandarisasi, penyimpanan dan pengelolahannya.

Doktor Tyas menyatakan, data hanya jadi data saja kalau tak disusun. Data itu harus menjadi informasi, kemudian data itu butuh struktur hingga menjadi knowledge (pengetahuan), jadi insight (wawasan) dan wisdom (kebijaksanaan).

Menurut Sekretaris Program Studi Magister Sains Biomedis, Dr. Juniarti,S.Si.M.Si, Universitas Yarsi telah memiliki NGS.

Tujuan acara ini sebagai tempat pembelajaran, menimba pengetahuan dari pakar, dan sebagai tanggung jawab sosial kepada masyarakat dan khusus mahasiswa M. Biomedis.

Doktor Tyas selain Head of Biotechnology, Digital Transformation Office Kementerian Kesehatan juga bertanggungjawab mengembangkan dan menyeleraskan data NGS dari penyakit di Indonesia sehingga bermanfaat meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan yang merupakan pilar transformasi kesehatan. (usman)
