A Step Towards Better Health: Group 26’s Community Programs in North Tugu

In December 2023, Group 26  from the law faculty of YARSI University launched a Community Service Program in North Tugu Sub-district, Koja District, North Jakarta, aiming to enhance public health through two key initiatives. On December 7, 2023, the group organized a seminar focused on hypertension risks specifically for the elderly. This seminar was designed to educate older residents about the dangers of hypertension, preventive measures, and management strategies. By providing valuable information and interactive sessions, the seminar sought to empower elderly participants to better manage their health and reduce the risks associated with high blood pressure.

Following this, on December 18, 2023, Group 26 implemented a Hygiene Awareness Program targeted at toddlers and their families. This program aimed to promote good hygiene practices from an early age by emphasizing the importance of handwashing, proper sanitation, and general cleanliness. Through engaging activities and educational demonstrations, the program sought to instill healthy habits in young children, which are essential for preventing illness and supporting their overall development.

These initiatives were aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-being. By addressing the specific health needs of both the elderly and young children, Group 26’s efforts contributed directly to improving community health. The hypertension seminar aimed to reduce health risks and improve the quality of life for elderly residents, while the hygiene awareness program was intended to foster long-term health benefits by promoting healthy practices from a young age. Overall, the Community Service Program reflected a strong commitment to advancing public health and enhancing well-being in the North Tugu Sub-district.
