YARSI International Short Course Attended by Participants from Various Countries

The Library and Information Science Study Program at Universitas YARSI hosted an International Short Course on “Digital Transformation: Interplay of Technology, Culture, and the Role of Librarianship.” Rector Prof. Fasli Jalal highlighted the crucial role of librarians in supporting global access to information, especially amid rapid digital advancements. The course covered the impact of technology and culture on librarianship, with the aim of equipping participants to address global challenges.

Danang Dwijo Kangko, Academic Coordinator, explained that YARSI’s e-learning platform, LAYAR, was used for both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities like lectures, discussions, quizzes, and practical exercises. Equivalent to 1.5 ECTS, the course reflects international educational standards. Danang noted that this event underscores YARSI’s commitment to high-quality, globally recognized education.

With 185 attendees, including students, library professionals, and academics from across the globe, the course also provided networking opportunities. Esteemed speakers such as Prof. Pimrumpai Premsmit from Thailand and Dr. Asmadi Mohammed Ghazali from Malaysia offered insights on digital transformation and the role of librarianship today.

Held over four days, the event stands as a testament to Universitas YARSI’s role in expanding professional knowledge, fostering innovation, and promoting libraries’ transformative impact in the digital era.
