Faith Meets Environment: How Islamic Teachings Could Pave the Way for Effective Climate Action

YARSI University hosted a webinar on “Islam and Climate Change” on April 26, 2024, featuring Dr. Muhammad Faisal, MS.Ak. The event explored Islamic perspectives on climate change and environmental policies, emphasizing education’s role in understanding these issues. Dr. Faisal called for more research on climate change impacts and mitigation strategies, encouraging innovation in addressing environmental challenges. The webinar also discussed the university’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 on climate action.

Dr. Faisal highlighted the importance of religious practices in reducing energy consumption and promoting resource efficiency. He urged community participation in water conservation and proper maintenance of energy systems to reduce emissions, stressing individual responsibility in implementing environmental policies and ensuring resource sustainability.
