Lifelong Health: KKN YARSI’s Educational Outreach in Sunter Agung

As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Sunter Agung, YARSI University students of group 19 focused on enhancing health services and awareness among elderly and young children in the community. The students actively participated in the Posyandu Lansia and Posyandu Balita, supporting routine health check-ups and conducting educational sessions on critical health issues. For the elderly, they provided information on managing and preventing hypertension and degenerative diseases, while also emphasizing the importance of physical activity. For young children, they focused on the prevention of stunting and the importance of oral hygiene from an early age.

These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting healthy practices and preventive care among vulnerable groups. The emphasis on education and awareness also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by ensuring that both the elderly and families of young children are empowered with essential health knowledge. Furthermore, the initiative contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by addressing the specific health needs of both the elderly and young children, ensuring that they receive the care and attention they require.

The event was a success, with strong community participation and positive feedback. The educational objectives were met, as residents gained valuable insights into maintaining good health, and showed an eagerness to apply this knowledge in their daily lives. Through this KKN project, YARSI University students not only applied their academic knowledge in real-world settings but also made a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of the Sunter Agung community. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to sustainable development and its dedication to social responsibility.
