As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Warakas, YARSI University students of group 18 focused on promoting balanced nutrition among young children and their mothers. On November 23 and December 11, 2023, the students conducted educational sessions at the local Pos Pelayanan Terpadu (POSYANDU)), where they provided information on the importance of a balanced diet for toddlers. The activities included distributing questionnaires to mothers, handing out booklets on balanced nutrition, and collecting the completed questionnaires for data analysis.
These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 2: Zero Hunger. By educating mothers on the principles of balanced nutrition, the program aimed to improve the health and development of young children in the community. The focus on nutrition also supports efforts to prevent malnutrition and related health issues, contributing to overall child well-being.
The initiative was well-received, with active participation from the community. The educational sessions not only provided valuable information but also equipped mothers with practical knowledge that can be applied in their daily lives. The collection and analysis of questionnaire data further helped in understanding the nutritional practices and needs of the community, enabling more targeted interventions in the future.
Through this KKN project, YARSI University students applied their academic knowledge to address a critical health issue, demonstrating their commitment to public health and sustainable development. Their efforts made a significant impact on the Warakas community, reflecting the university’s dedication to social responsibility and community empowerment.
