Preventing Youth Crime: A Collaborative Approach to Education and Awareness in Kalibaru

As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program, YARSI University students of group 37 focused on tackling juvenile delinquency in Kalibaru. The initiative, conducted from November to December 2023, aimed to educate both teenagers and their parents on the impacts and prevention of juvenile misconduct.

The students organized educational sessions that highlighted the causes and consequences of juvenile delinquency, while also emphasizing the importance of parental involvement and supervision. These activities support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education. By addressing the root causes of juvenile behavior issues, the program seeks to enhance community safety and foster a supportive environment for youth development.

The project aimed to provide practical strategies for parents to better engage with their children and to create a more informed and proactive community. The sessions were successful, with high levels of participation and positive feedback from both parents and teenagers. This initiative not only increased awareness about juvenile delinquency but also strengthened the bonds between families and communities.

Through this KKN project, YARSI University students demonstrated their commitment to social responsibility and community development, reflecting the university’s dedication to sustainable development and improving the well-being of vulnerable populations.
