In November-December 2023, YARSI University students of group 35 conducted a Community Service Program (KKN) in Marunda, focusing on Dengue Fever prevention. The program included a “Jumantik” activity, where students, alongside local health professionals from the Puskesmas, monitored mosquito larvae in residents’ homes. Additionally, the students organized a Dengue Fever Prevention Socialization event, inviting representatives from the Marunda Subdistrict, YARSI University’s Field Supervisors, and local jumantik volunteers to educate the community on effective prevention strategies.
These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by aiming to reduce the spread of Dengue Fever through proactive community engagement and education. The jumantik program was vital in controlling mosquito populations, while the socialization efforts emphasized the importance of community-wide participation in disease prevention.
This initiative received strong support and participation from the local community, successfully increasing awareness and equipping residents with the knowledge needed to protect their health. Through this KKN project, YARSI University students demonstrated their commitment to public health and sustainable community development, making a tangible impact in Marunda.
