Advancing Public Health and Sustainability: YARSI University’s KKN Group 34 Leads Key Initiatives in Sukapura, Cilincing

As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Sukapura, Cilincing, YARSI University students of group 34 focused on several key initiatives to improve community health and well-being. Held in November until December 2023, the program included activities such as Jumantik, aimed at monitoring and reducing the density of Aedes mosquito larvae to prevent the spread of dengue fever, hydroponic farming to promote sustainable food production, and reproductive health education to raise awareness among the community. These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

The Jumantik program aimed to control mosquito populations and reduce the risk of dengue transmission, while the hydroponic farming initiative provided residents with the knowledge and tools to grow their own food sustainably. The reproductive health sessions were designed to educate participants on important health issues, contributing to long-term community well-being. The program successfully engaged the local community, with participants showing a strong interest in applying the knowledge gained to improve their daily lives.

Through this KKN project, YARSI University students effectively applied their academic skills to address real-world challenges, making a significant impact on the health and sustainability of the Sukapura community. This initiative underscores the university’s commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility, by fostering healthier environments, promoting sustainable practices, and empowering communities through education.
