Group 32 from the Faculty of Management at YARSI University conducted a Community Service Program (KKN) from November 9 to December 22, 2023, titled “Empowering the Community in Preventing and Addressing Dengue Fever Cases: A Case Study in RW 04, Semper Barat Sub-district.” This program was designed to enhance community awareness and involvement in preventing and managing Dengue Fever (DBD). Key activities included intensive education on methods for preventing and managing DBD, outreach on the importance of regular mosquito larvae inspections, and community cleanup efforts in RW 04. Additionally, the program involved distributing larvicide powder to eradicate mosquito larvae and providing trash bins to support environmental cleanliness.
The results of this initiative revealed a significant increase in community knowledge and awareness about DBD. Residents became more proactive in inspecting mosquito larvae and implementing preventive measures, leading to a reduction in mosquito larvae counts in the RW 04 area. The local environment also improved in cleanliness and health as a result of the cleanup efforts and proper waste management. This program successfully contributed to lowering the risk of DBD cases, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 on Health and Well-being. With ongoing community empowerment and enhanced health practices, it is expected that these positive impacts will continue to support sustainable public health efforts.
