Student-Led Health Drive: Tackling Stunting and Enhancing Oral Hygiene in Tugu Selatan

As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Tugu Selatan, YARSI University students of group 27 focused on promoting dental health and addressing stunting issues among children in the community. The students conducted educational sessions on proper dental care, highlighting the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene from a young age. In addition, they provided information on the prevention and management of stunting, emphasizing the critical role of nutrition in child development. These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and SDG 4: Quality Education.

The program also included health check-ups for toddlers and children, aimed at early detection of nutritional deficiencies and oral health issues. This comprehensive approach ensures that the community is not only informed about the risks of stunting and poor dental hygiene but is also equipped with the tools to take preventive action. The initiative supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration between the university, local health workers, and the community to improve overall health outcomes.

The event was well-received, with significant community participation. The educational objectives were met, and the community responded positively to the activities. Through this KKN project, YARSI University students actively contributed to the well-being of the Tugu Selatan community, reflecting the university’s commitment to sustainable development and public health improvement.
