Healthy Lungs, Healthy Lives: YARSI University’s KKN Efforts in Preventing Respiratory Infections

As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Rawa Badak Selatan, YARSI University students from group 4 concentrated on the prevention and management of Acute Respiratory Infections (ISPA). The students organized educational sessions to disseminate critical information on the causes, symptoms, transmission, management, and prevention of ISPA, including insights into treatment options and payment systems. This initiative was aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by aiming to enhance respiratory health and increase awareness about effective practices to prevent and manage respiratory infections.

The educational sessions were designed to provide community members with practical knowledge and tools to address ISPA effectively. By informing residents about preventive measures and management strategies, the program sought to improve overall health outcomes and reduce the prevalence of respiratory infections. The outreach was well-received, with high levels of community engagement and positive feedback. The information shared not only enhanced the community’s understanding of ISPA but also encouraged proactive health measures.

Through this KKN project, YARSI University students applied their academic knowledge to address a pressing health issue, reflecting the university’s dedication to public health and sustainable development. Their efforts made a meaningful impact on the well-being of the Rawa Badak Selatan community, demonstrating the university’s commitment to social responsibility and community advancement.
