Boosting Elderly Well-Being: YARSI’s KKN in Sunter Jaya

The increasing elderly population in Indonesia requires special attention to ensure that seniors remain healthy and productive. Group 23 from the Faculty of Management at YARSI University has conducted a Community Service Program (KKN) aimed at empowering the elderly in the Sunter Jaya Sub-district to maintain their health and productivity. The program’s objectives were to enhance the health and well-being of seniors through physical and social activities, foster independence and productivity by providing skills training, and raise awareness among the community and local government about the importance of elderly empowerment.

The activities included group exercise sessions and light physical activities with seniors, training in crafting skills, entrepreneurship and business development workshops, health education and medical check-ups, as well as recreational and educational excursions. The outcomes of the program included improved physical health and fitness among the elderly, increased independence and productivity through skills and business development, and heightened awareness within the community and local government about the significance of elderly empowerment.

In conclusion, the “Empowering Healthy and Productive Elderly” KKN program in Sunter Jaya successfully improved the health, well-being, and productivity of seniors, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. The program also effectively raised awareness among the community and local government regarding the critical importance of elderly empowerment.
