The Faculty of Law and Notary Master’s Program at Universitas YARSI recently hosted an International Short Course titled “The Dynamic of Indonesian Legal System: Challenges and Opportunities in 5.0 Society.” The event brought together 160 participants, including professors, legal practitioners, and students, from six countries: the Philippines, India, China, France, Somalia, and Indonesia.
The short course focused on the evolving demands on the legal system in response to the emerging Society 5.0 era. This era calls for legal frameworks that adapt to a technological landscape shaped by the Industrial Revolution 4.0. While innovation continues to accelerate, the need for human-centered solutions becomes critical to balance development with societal needs.
During the event’s opening, Rector Prof. Fasli Jalal underscored the importance of the short course in encouraging global dialogue on digital transformation’s impact on law. Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Mohammad Ryan Bakry, noted the program’s role in equipping legal professionals with skills for Society 5.0. Dr. Chandra Yusuf emphasized preparing notaries for new challenges in the field.
Guest speakers provided insights on international arbitration and technology’s legal implications, with contributions from Prof. Daniel Jiang Yueting of Fujian Polytechnic Normal University and Prof. Tim Lindsey of Melbourne Law School. The event was lauded for fostering diverse discussions essential for navigating legal complexities in the Society 5.0 era.
